The Bakugo & Todoroki Show [My Hero Academia 241]

Did you catch the new season of Bakugo & Todoroki? It’s really good. I can’t wait to see their hijinks working for Endeavor. Oops! Getting a little ahead of myself.

That’s right. You tell ’em Labyrinth’s David Bowie.

The U.A. students are back! Bakugo & Todoroki are interviewed after whoopin’ villain butt immediately after getting their provisional licenses. Shouldn’t Deku get an interview for beating down Overhaul? Maybe certain details about the mission are secret. Yeah, I guess I’ll go with that plot hole—erm—excuse.

Mt. Lady. Someone as media obsessed as her is working harder as a legit hero. Good on you. And, not just Mt. Lady. Seems Endeavor’s influence after his High-End fight is reaching far and wide. Heroes overall are gathering more support from the public and the heroes themselves are stepping up. This ain’t All Might’s world anymore. The heroes can’t count on an overpowered super-duper hero saving everyone. It’s time everyone did their part in keeping Japan safe.

Hero Interview Training. Similar to focusing on team-ups when getting their provisional licenses, the students continue to be groomed on current hero expectations. This time is interviewing in order to put the public at ease and show them who they are, both with their words and by demonstrating their powers. It’s another step in keeping public morale high while at the same time learning what other heroes you may end up partnering with can do. A simple yet important training exercise.

All Might’s doing something, Y’all! He’s trying to dig up info on all the past One For All users. That’s a great way to use the character. Good on Horikoshi for doing that.

So, Deku’s got Blackwhip locked down, but now it’s time to train that bad boy. He can at least summon the power but it’s weak. Gee, I wonder who Deku should work-study under to help him control it? A hero in the Top 10, perhaps? Someone Mt. Lady can introduce him to. Someone who uses whip type appendages. I’m talking about Kamui Woods, Y’all. It’s perfect. Deku can learn from another whip type user and we get some interesting developments since Kamui Woods is part of a hero team. We may even get other U.A. students interning under other members. Lots of promise going that route.

Typical Dead By Daylight player.

But, what about Bakugo? We can’t have him be the only one of Class 1-A’s top 3 not working under a top hero. If we assume Todoroki’s working under Endeavor, then maybe Bakugo is too. Yeah, I know Bakugo will hate working with Todoroki, but, more Bakugo/Todoroki scenes are always welcomed. Plus, Bakugo needs to learn to be professional. And, as much of an asshole Endeavor can be, he always comes off like a true pro when on the clock. Bakugo can learn a lot from a guy like him. Todoroki too, seeing as he’s calm as a cucumber most of the time. His natural personality or Xanax? You decide.

Time to address the liberated elephant in the room. Is Denki Kaminari a member of the Meta Liberation Army/Paranormal Liberation Front? Yes. Not gonna sugarcoat it. He was doing the hand sign and Horikoshi wouldn’t have someone make that hand gesture right after an arc featuring them without it meaning something. Left hand, right hand, it doesn’t matter which one he used. He did it. Plus, it’s not a huge leap of logic most of the liberation heroes were indoctrinated by their pro-liberation parents, and therefore, were MLA hero students. So, assuming I’m right, the next question is: What does that mean for Kaminari?

Well, being a hero and member of the Meta Liberation Army doesn’t totally contradict one another. You can believe citizens should use their powers freely while doing your job as a hero. The problem comes from doing something illegal whether or not you’re a hero. The heroes at Deika City clearly were in the wrong. But, if someone grew up being told using your quirk to its fullest is a good thing and became a hero in order to do that, I see nothing wrong with it. I’m thinking that’s Kaminari’s current stance.

Oh, the sweet irony of that question.

Look, the Meta Liberation Army was sketchy as hell all on its own, but now that Shigaraki and the League of Villains joined forces, this new Paranormal Liberation Front is bad news from start to finish. Kaminari will have to make some hard choices in the future. He can think about it while work studying under Slidin’ Go. What? Makes sense, right? He’s the most featured liberation hero we know. We’re definitely seeing him again at some point anyway. I’d love to see Slidin’ Go trying to explain why the Paranormal Liberation Front is a good thing. Drama, here we come!

A good chapter! We’re back with Deku & Pals and we’re getting another work-study with the possibility of Deku mastering Blackwhip and Bakugo learning how to act like a decent human being. Hey! Maybe Tsuyu will work with Gang Orca. Or, Sero with Edgeshot. Or, Mineta with highway traffic. We can only hope.
